Production of titanium tetrachloride (TiCl4) from titanium ores: A review
Titanium (Ti) is the ninth most abundant element on earth. The titanium mineral ores are widely distributed in different parts of the world. The two main ores of titanium include rutile (TiO2) and ilmenite (FeO.TiO2). It is aimed to provide the readers with an insight to the main processes currently employed to extract and recover titanium tetrachloride (TiCl4) from different titanium ores. Due...
متن کاملTitanium tetrachloride burns to the eye.
We present eight cases of chemical burns of the eyes from titanium tetrachloride, an acidic corrosive liquid. However it causes severe chemical burns which have a protracted course and features more akin to severe alkali burns. Injuries related to titanium tetrachloride should be treated seriously and accordingly appropriate management is suggested.
متن کاملTitanium Impurities in Silicon, Diamond, and Silicon Carbide
Since transition metal impurities affect the electronic and optical properties of semiconductors [1], it is important to understand the role of such unavoidable impurities on those properties. At the same time, transition metals in semiconductors can be used in other unusual situations. The energy levels related to transition metal impurities are aligned with respect to each other for the same ...
متن کاملCharacterisation of titanium tetrachloride and titanium sulfate flocculation in wastewater treatment.
Flocculation with titanium tetrachloride (TiCl(4)) and titanium sulfate (Ti(SO(4))(2)) was investigated in terms of different coagulant doses, pH, turbidity, dissolved organic carbon (DOC), UV-254, colour, zeta potential, particle size and molecular weight distribution. The two coagulants were compared with the commonly used coagulants such as ferric chloride (FeCl(3)) and aluminium sulfate (Al...
متن کاملPreparation of titanium dioxide (TiO2) from sludge produced by titanium tetrachloride (TiCl4) flocculation of wastewater.
Sludge disposal is one of the most costly and environmentally problematic challenges of modern wastewater treatment worldwide. In this study, a new process was developed, which has a significant potential for lower cost of waste disposal, protection of the environment and public health, and yield of economically useful byproducts. Titanium oxide (TiO2), which is the most widely used metal oxide...
